Apagard against the other types on the shelf
Fluoride, peroxide and desensitizing pastes each do a different job, and Apagard is none of the three.
Is Apagard a fluoride toothpaste?
No. None of the 5 Apagard ingredient lists names fluoride. Sangi builds the range on hydroxyapatite instead, and the packs make no cavity claim.
| Type of toothpaste | What a primary source says | Apagard next to it | When the other type is the better choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluoride toothpaste | "All toothpastes with a claim of cavity protection with the ADA Seal of Acceptance must contain fluoride." American Dental Association: Toothpastes (Oral Health Topics) read 7 October 2026 | No fluoride in any list. No cavity claim on the pack. | Better choice when your dentist has told you to use fluoride, or you want a paste with the ADA Seal for cavity protection. |
| Peroxide whitening products | "Whitening treatments can be effective on both extrinsic and intrinsic staining." American Dental Association: Whitening (Oral Health Topics) read 7 October 2026 | No peroxide in any list. Sangi's wording stays with surface stains and a naturally whiter look. | Better choice when the discoloration is inside the tooth and a dentist has suggested whitening. |
| Desensitizing toothpaste | "This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced." MouthHealthy (American Dental Association): Sensitive Teeth read 7 October 2026 | Sangi does not sell it as a desensitizing paste, and the cards name no such ingredient. | Better choice when a dentist has found the cause of the sensitivity and recommended a desensitizing paste. |
